Grammatical Symbols

MVL utlilize user-friendly symbols for the different parts of grammar, and helps student gain understand of the relationships between the parts.
MVL is a hands-on, classroom - tested strategy that begins with a careful and thoughtful discussion of
grammatical symbols that represent the parts of speech: articles, adjectives, nouns, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and interjections. Once students become familiar with the symbols, they can analyze a sentence to determine how the symbols are used.
A useful technique is to conduct a sentence analysis as a group discussion. Students and teachers together identify the symbols. Later, everyone can apply the structures and rules they’ve learned in their own writings.
